World #2 Champion in Supermoto, Davide Gozzini will debut at the final round of the KTM Australian Supermoto Championship at the Northam Motorcycle Festival this weekend.
All the way from Italy and holding the #1 title in his homeland, Gozzini will feature as a special guest in the championship and will take on Australia’s best supermotard riders such as championship leader Angus Reekie in some of the best racing ever seen in WA.
The sport has come a long way in Western Australia, being introduced to Australia's motorcycle racing culture only 4 years ago. The KTM Australian Supermoto Championship is taking place all weekend in Northam where 900 tonnes of dirt has been carted in to produce one of the greatest racing events on the streets of WA.
Born and bred in Europe, the sport is becoming more popular by the minute. With over 115 competitors arriving in WA from around Australia and from Italy for this special event, there have been discussions held with Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi about the potential of hosting the World Championship or a World Style Event right here in the heart of the city - with the outcome looking very positive.

They call it the inboard braking system. The system comes from the airplane industry and has some interesting advantages:
- three times less inertia
- 500 gram(1lbs) weight savings
- 20% more brake power
Some very impressive numbers I must say. Stay tuned for a more indept article about this braking system soon.
From now on Supermoto Central will also be reporting about the Supermoto bikes available for the younger readers(or for the kids of older readers). Like 50cc Supermoto's,Pitbikes and 125cc models.
The first news is about Derbi's new Limited Edition DRD EVO SM. It's pretty much a normal DRD EVO SM with some fancy black Paioli 40mm forks, new rear suspension, red wheel striping, red brake calipers.
Personally I think the bike would look better with a normal Supermoto style front fender but who am I to judge. Prices not available yet.
