On a hot but windy day here in southern Spain and with the grandstands packed to the rafters the 100th Grand Prix of the FIM Supermoto World Championship burst into life with the best supermoto riders in the world preparing to do battle. And the opening GP on this historic occasion did not disappoint as close racing and fierce rivalries were once again the order of the day.

Italian Supermoto season started in Viterbo
Last weekend the first round Italian Supermoto Championship was held at the track of Viterbo.
FRT Honda rider Edgardo Borello took pole position but it was Thomas Chareyre who won the first race followed by Honda riders Ivan Lazzarini and Andrea Occhini
Race 2 was also won by Thomas Chareyre, who was chased to the finish by fellow TM riders Mauno Hermunen and Marc Reiner Schmidt. Thomas Chareyre grabbed the overall win, Lazzarini took the 2nd step of the podium followed by Marc Reiner Schmidt.
