Great day for Husqvarna today as the manufacturer presented its Factory Teams for the 2009 season at the Roadhouse in Buguggiate, a town close to the factory’s base Varese (Italy). The event took off after the welcome of Husqvarna Motorcycles Srl President Rainer Thoma and the presentation of the racing activities by Husqvarna Racing Coordinator Martino Bianchi.
The Husqvarna Team CH Racing SuperMoto headed by passionate Italian Fabrizio Azzalin will be one of the teams to beat in the 2009 season in both the World Championship classes.
Speed star Thomas Chareyre will race again in the S1 class where he took two GP wins in 2008 as both victories were matched by his brother Adrien’s successes in the S2 class. The first time this happened in the history of World SuperMoto was in Andorra, followed by a consecutive triumph in Busca.
Alongside Thomas there will be Finn Mauno Hermunen who was spotted as one of the future talents during the wet European GP in Castelletto last year. Hermunen led five laps of the opening heat before crashing but he will surely go for more in 2009.
In the S2 class defending Champion Adrien Chareyre, who mounted on the stage onboard his Husqvarna SM 530 RR, will be the man to beat. Though two time World Champion Chareyre will not be the sole rider to benefit from the factory Husqvarna bike. Gerald Delepine, now a member of team Cross 2R with which he took the first of his two titles, will also be provided with factory machinery.
The World SuperMoto Championship is due to start at Viterbo, Italy, on April 19 as the date is clearly marked on the Husqvarna Factory’s racing calendar.
