Cunningham takes double win at British Supermoto in Rednal![]() Photo by Alec Trusler At the second round of the British Supermoto Championship Motosupplies Husqvarna rider Douglas Cunningham had a very good weekend. Saturday was the day of the 450 Elite class, James Addy took the pole in the qualifying. Douglas Cunningham took the hole shot in race 1 and led from start to finish taking his first 1st place finish of the season, giving him pole position for race 2. Robb finished 2nd and Blakeman 3rd. In race 2 lap 5 Cunningham made the pass coming off the second off-road section to take the lead, but Robb passed Cunningham at the end of the long tarmac straight to take back the lead. Soon after the red flags were waving, the race was stopped due to an off-road crash, Robb won race 2 followed by Cunningham and Addy. Going into the final Cunningham was determined not to let the same happen again, and shot straight into the lead, which he held to the chequered flag, giving Cunningham the overall 450 Elite win. Robb took 2nd overall followed by Addy. Robb leads the 450 Elite Championship in front of Hodgson, Cunningham moves up to 3rd (1 point off 2nd place) in the championship. Sunday was race day for the Open Elite class. In race 1, Cunningham shot straight into the lead and unchallenged throughout the race giving him the first win of the day, which followed on into race 2, another dominant race by the flying Scott again giving him pole for the final. Although taking the hole shot again, he was hottly persued by the usual challengers Addy and O'Leary. But he held on to take the third win of the day, giving him maximum points. Brad O'Leary finished 2nd overall followed by Hodgson in 3rd. Cunningham moves up two places in the Open Elite championship to 2nd, now only 7 points behind Chris Hodgson, the current British Champion. Hermunen wins Italian round in Battipaglia![]() Mauno Hermunen (SHR TM) dominated both races of the second International Italian Supermoto round in Battipaglia. The French Chareyre brothers Thomas (TM Factory Racing) and Adrien Chareyre (Fast Wheels Aprilia) finished in second and third place respectively. Fourth position overall, and the first of the Italians, was defending Italian champion Ivan Lazzarini (HM Honda Racing) who strengthens his leading position in the Italian Championship. Good race for Teo Monticelli (Honda Team Fiamma) who finished the Salerno round in fifth place, in front of Bologna policeman Christian Ravaglia (Ktm Team Miglio). In the S2 class Diego Monticelli (Honda Arrow) wins race 1 and race 2 was won by Massimiliano Porfiri (Honda Arrow). But the overall S2 victory was for Luca D'Addato (Valdemi Racing Honda)who is also the new Italian S2 championship leader. In the qualifying for the Italian S2 class, Diego Monticelli (Honda arrow) was the fastest with a 1'20 .926, ahead of the Dutch European Championship leader Devon Vermeulen (KTM Motoracing) and Luca D'Addato (Honda). Mickael Lacroix leads the Belgian Cup after two rounds![]() Together with several races of the Dutch Supermoto Championship the Belgian Cup is being organized by the Belgian Motorsports Union(FMB) this year. Mickael Lacroix was the winner of the first round in Lelystad in early April. Come Geenen and Sylvain Joly finished 2nd and 3rd overall. Last weekend in Zelhem again Mickael Lacroix was the strongest of all the Belgian riders and he grabbed the overall win. Come Geenen finished 2nd overall followed by Romain Kaivers. |
